Reading the Republic is a four-week, self-paced online course in which students learn to read, analyze, and write about the documents that built the United States: the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, and Washington's Farewell Address.
Who runs it
The course is designed and delivered by Access USA (AUSA), an education company that prepares international students, mainly in India, for American higher education. AUSA runs live online workshops, credit-bearing courses with partner universities, on-campus programs, and school partnerships. Reading the Republic is the entry-level course in AUSA's American Constitutional Values sequence.
How it works
- Six modules, each built around one primary source and one reading or writing skill. Every module requires the student to produce something.
- Exercises and essays are graded by AI against the same rubrics used in the credit-bearing American Constitutional Values course, with specific feedback and the chance to revise before a final grade.
- Roughly ten hours of work over four weeks, with extensions available on request.
- A Certificate of Completion on clearing the course, and a guaranteed place in a future live, credit-bearing American Constitutional Values course.
